Environmental Initiatives

Recognizing the environmental impact of its operations, BAZAN has undertaken significant measures to reduce pollution and enhance sustainability:

Transition to Natural Gas: In March 2011, BAZAN connected to Israel’s national natural gas distribution grid, enabling a shift from fuel oil to natural gas as the primary energy source. This transition has substantially decreased air pollution and is projected to save the company approximately $200 million annually in fuel and related costs.

Hydrocracking Unit: In 2012, BAZAN commissioned a hydrocracking unit, further enhancing its refining capabilities and environmental performance.

Emission Reduction Projects: In December 2020, BAZAN announced a $3.7 million project to develop, compress, and transport hydrogen, aiming to introduce hydrogen-fueled vehicles to Israel.

Community Engagement

BAZAN is committed to corporate social responsibility, particularly in times of national crisis. In October 2023, during a period of conflict, the company allocated NIS 1.5 million to support civilians affected by the war. This aid focused on mental health services, housing solutions, and support for evacuees. Subsequently, BAZAN increased its assistance budget to NIS 30 million, collaborating with organizations like NATAL and ERAN to provide psychological support, and partnering with the Isrotel hotel chain to host residents from conflict zones.
